Growing up I loved Milano cookies, and so did my family, so when I saw this blog about Milano cookie projects, I was inspired to try one myself. These cookies are extremely easy to make once you figure out how to melt white chocolate.


  • Tollhouse white chocolate morsels (half a bag is fine)
  • Milano cookies in any flavor you like (I used orange chocolate)
  • Chocolate cookie frosting (the kind that hardens)


  • First, melt the white chocolate. Melting white chocolate is really different from melting other kinds of chocolate. You need to put it in the microwave (yes, I microwaved it and nobody died. It's fine, but skeptics always recommend a double boiler, which I don't own). You need to make sure the microwave is on a 50% power setting ad zap the white chocolate 1 minute by 1 minute. Do not microwave all the morsels at once. This stuff hardens quickly, and you're just going to have to microwave it again if it hardens before you use it all. Just use enough to cover the bottom of the microwave-safe bowl.
  • Use a large spoon to pile melted white chocolate on the milano cookie. Normally, I like to dip cookies, but since the white chocolate will be hot, you run the risk of the dark chocolate part of the milano melting and making the white chocolate light brown. Bad idea. So just pour it on, and sort of let it "drip down". The back of the milano doesn't need to be covered, but if you want to go the extra mile, you can do the same thing there too.
  • Once the white chocolate is totally hardened, use a narrow-mouthed tube of chocolate cookie frosting (make sure it's the kind that hardens!) to draw little spooky eyes on the adorable ghosts.
