Sour cherry cake

You've never had a cake quite like this one. The cake itself is moist and plenty favorful, thanks to the sweet and tart cherries. Trust us, you won't want to put your fork down.

Ingredients[]

  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. sour milk
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup sour cherries
  • 1/2 c. softened butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoom baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions[]

1. Grease two 8-inch pans and dust with flour. Set aside.

2. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time.

3. In a separate bowl, sift flour, soda, salt and cinnamon.

4. Add butter mixture to flour mixture, and alternately pour in milk, beating mixture after each addition of milk.

5. Fold in cherries and beat until cherries are slightly pureed.

6. Pour mixture into pie crusts and bake for in 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.


•Sour Cherry Frosting:

1. Mix frosting ingredients with enough cherry juice until a spreadable consistency is obtained.

2. To make cherry juice when using fresh sour cherries, simmer a small amount of cherries in a little water and sugar to form a syrup.
