  • Makes 6 dozen cookies.



  1. Cream shortening and sugar; beat in eggs and add vanilla.
  2. Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
  3. Combine 1 cup flour and spices; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk and bourbon.
  4. Beat well after each addition.
  5. Coat fruit with ½ cup flour; stir fruit and nuts into batter.
  6. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets and bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
