Butter Icing

Ingredients

• ¼ cup butter
• ⅔ cup powdered sugar
• 2 drops vanilla extract
• a little warm water

Directions

1. Cream butter until softened.
2. Gradually sift in the powdered sugar and beat well.
3. Add vanilla and a little warm water and beat until smooth.

Orange or lemon flavor

1. Add 1 tsp grated orange or lemon rind and about 1 tbsp orange or lemon juice instead of the water and vanilla.

Coffee Flavor

1. Add 1 tsp instant coffee powder, which has been dissolved in 2 tsp boiling water and cooled or 1 tbsp coffee essence.

Chocolate Flavor

1. Add 1 tsp cocoa powder which has been dissolved in 2 tsp boiling water and cooled.
