American Traditional Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients[]

Pumpkin mush[]

  • 1 medium pumpkin

Directions[]

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. In a large Bowl combine sugars and eggs.
  3. Add in the Pumpkin mush, the spices, salt, and evaporated milk.
  4. Pour the filling into the pie shell.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes, and then reduce heat to 350 and bake for another 50 minutes.

Pumpkin mush[]

  1. Cut pumpkin in half.
  2. Prick the skin several times with a fork.
  3. Bake for 50 minutes
  4. Let the pumpkin cool, then scoop out the seeds with a spoon.
  5. Scoop out the pumpkin meat, and throw away the skin.
  6. Mash the pumpkin meat with a potato masher or puree in a blender/food processor.
